I love my web host, dreamhost.com, and am convinced they are the best host out there. They are a serious host, meaning they can handle anything the internet throws at them, and have a rich, full-featured hosting package, with all kinds of crazy extras and a surprizingly low rate. Their basic package is only $9.99 a month, and includes a free domain name! Upgrading and downgrading your account is fast and easy.
Among their extras is the ability to host multiple sites from one account. This is a serious money saver for people with a lot of projects, couples, families, or people who have, say, a personal website, and a business website. Also included are things like forums, guestbooks, POP, IMAP, and web-based e-mail, full support for server side scripting, polls, and pretty much anything else you could ask for.
Their disk space and bandwidth allocations are surprisingly large — which is why it's an amazing testiment to the comic's popularity that I've managed to exceed them — and their customer service and support staff are really top notch. I am a picky bastard, but I have never had a single damned complaint about Dreamhost, a fact that impresses me every day.
Anyway, they have a great referal program. Check this out: if anyone gets an account with them — and frankly, everyone with a web site should have an account with them — and list you as a referal, they will credit a full 10% of that person's hosting fees to you, and furthermore, if that person goes on to make referals, you get a slice of that pie as well.
In other words, if you sign up with Dreamhost you will not only be with the best damned web host out there, you will be making a monthly donation to Decorative Edison that will cost you absolutely nothing. That, to me, is a pretty damned amazing deal. If enough people signed up with them, they would actually — and yes, I have checked into this — PAY ME to host my site. That, my friends, is what I call Saving Edison!
Anyway, please, check them out and if you decide to go with them, list "ryutaro" as your referrer. It's a good thing.
